My name is Kirsty Anderson and I am a UKCP registered Integrative Psychotherapist based in Darlington, County Durham. I provide psychotherapy for adults, offering a safe, confidential and supportive space to help you explore life's challenges and move towards positive change.
Following some major life events in my 30s I developed an interest in self help, which turned into deeper learning and onto a qualification in psychotherapeutic counselling and later a diploma in psychotherapy. Having trained at the Northern Guild in Newcastle Upon Tyne, I have worked in an NHS setting and within private practice. I am currently working online.
I am also a qualified trainer and can deliver First Aid for Mental Health Qualifications for your employees ( Level 1,2,3 OFQual Accredited). More About My Experience
Having trained in Integrative Psychotherapy, I work in a relational way, with an underlying model of Transactional Analysis as my foundation. Working relationally means that we will look at what happens between us in the therapy room as a tool to explore relationships you have with others. Transactional Analysis is a way of understanding and intervening in human behaviour and empowering people to take responsibility for their lives.
What is central to my work is empathy, unconditional positive regard, warmth, respectful challenge, congruence and respect.
Above all, what is important to me is that I can offer you a safe, non judgemental confidential space to help explore and work through the situation or patterns of behaviour which have brought you to therapy.
You may be wondering if Counselling or Psychotherapy is for you. We can all experience difficulties at different times of our lives with personal relationships, stress or emotional challenges. Therapy can help support through these times in our lives.
Counselling can help with "here and now" issues and will allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings and process the emotions associated. It can also help to reduce negative thought patterns.
Psychotherapy can help with more deep rooted, long standing issues and can help you to understand the impact this can have on current relationships. This would allow you to talk through, process and set about positive change or to come to a place of acceptance.
Therapy sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held once a week, providing a consistent and supportive space for your therapeutic journey.
£55 per session
