Mental Health in the Workplace

What is Mental Health?

In a nutshell, this is about how we think, feel and act.

Let's check some stats

The HSE has recently published their annual report relating to ill health stats for 2022/23

Nearly 1.8 million people reported work based illness in 2022/23, with approximately half suffering from stress, anxiety or depression. This equates to about 875,000 people.

An estimated 35.2 million working days were lost in 2022/23 due to work related ill health or injury.

Deloitte UK released a report in 2020 which showed the £45 billion costs to employers for poor mental health.

Why choose Lemonaide™

What sets us apart is the clinical experience working with mental health, combined with a corporate career and exposure to the stresses this can bring.

Kirsty

I have worked in property management since 2004. Having worked in this industry for so long I have seen a huge change in the role, the demands on property teams, the attitudes of customers and external pressures such as changes to compliance, particularly since the Grenfell tragedy. All of which play a part in the mental health and well being of the teams working to support the developments. This work allows me to understand corporate pressures and what its like to work outside of the world of therapy.

In 2012 I began a diploma in Psychotherapy and Psychotherapeutic Counselling and qualified in 2017. I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and run a private practice working online. I have also previously worked within an NHS setting. I have worked with a broad range of clients, men and women ranging from 19 years of age up to 75 years of age. I have also worked with a range of presenting issues from anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, relationship breakdown & relationship issues, PTSD, sexual abuse, intrusive thoughts, suicidal clients, self-harm, eating disorders etc.

My training also required me to have weekly psychotherapy for the duration of my training, so I am experienced to be able to talk to people about what it is like to receive counselling or therapy hopefully removing some of the stigma surrounding therapy for some people.

My exposure to working within the mental health field since 2012 allows me to provide much richer and more meaningful explanations of what it is like to relate to and talk to people who may be suffering or needing a supportive conversation. It also allows me to ensure that I can monitor anyone attending the course who may be processing their own issues throughout the training as the content could be quite triggering.

More recently I have undertaken additional training in Education & Training and First Aid for Mental Health Instructor qualifications which was completed with NUCO Training Ltd.
